I'm back once again. :)

I've been seriously thinking about getting some writing done soon, because I've been able to make a dent in my household duties, chores, etc. and won't feel so guilty about spending some time doing my fun hobby. :)

The big news now is that I'm going to Phoenix Rising next May in New Orleans. I'm registered, paid for, and all good to go, barring some major incident that would prevent that from happening! Fingers crossed that doesn't become an issue.

The cool news is that I got in on a first-50-applicants deal to be paired up with an artist and work on a story together. So there will be news here sometime in the (hopefully) near future about that. I'm excited to see who I get paired with and what we come up with.

So now I'm off to join up with the LJ groups for the conference, and I'm ready to oil the old rusty writing hinges.

Well, the SWSCII didn't pan out. Not enough participation, and I was stressing to get the challenges posted daily. Ah well, it was a valiant effort.

So, in lieu of that, I decided to put up a link to my published works, which are currently comprised of one short chaptered story, one short non-chaptered story, and the collection of last summer's [info]pk_h_hr_swsc responses, which are 35 small ficlets, all 1000 or 2000 words long. (Link is in the sidebar.)

Here's a little info about them:

The short chaptered story is entitled Pub Night, and was a response to the “Pick-Up Line Challenge” posted on Portkey.org by VipyGirl831. It's a humorous story, which I summarized with the following blurb: "When Harry and friends meet at the pub one night, the conversation gets a bit silly." It's gotten really good reviews, much to my surprise, and I do plan to someday finish the entire story that it was taken from.

The non-chaptered story is called Rapture. This story began as a 1000-word response to the Summer Writing Series Challenge posted on June 15, 2004 (then titled Forever), and then I massively expanded it (nearly 3000 more words!) for the [info]hphg_ficathon. Originally it was solely from Hermione’s POV...but I really wanted to see what Harry was thinking at the same time, so I added on the second part, which is his POV, and then the happy little epilogue. It was my first time doing all narrative, and I did that for no particular reason other than just to try something different. It is complete at this point, with no plans for a follow-up...too many other plot bunnies in my head, hehe.

I had the idea one day that it would be fun to do daily challenges for short one-shot stories, and after running the idea by [info]c_l_woodard, the [info]pk_h_hr_swsc was born. After 7 weeks of daily challenges, I wound up with 35 short stories, collected on Portkey.org as Summer Writing Series Challenge: Tawny's Responses. This is a sampling of just about everything; from funny to sad, from narrative to dialogue-free, and every other writing style we could come up with. I think it helped my writing a lot, and it also got lots of really good reviews.

I am currently working on a plethera of other pieces, some nearly finished, some nowhere near...and one particular piece I like to call "the monster" which I really do hope to finish up by the end of the summer. It is a stray from my normal ship of choice...it's a G/D piece. I'm having issues with getting their voices just right, so I've done a lot of rewriting. I'll post it here for observation before submitting it to the wolves. :) And I do have another short G/D piece I'll probably post here soon, so keep an eye out if you're interested.

Although I've been an LJ member for well over a year, I spent the majority of that first year participating in the [info]hp_costuming, [info]hpcostumemeetup, [info]hphg_ficathon and [info]pk_h_hr_swsc communities, but never posting in my own journal.

Now that [info]pk_h_hr_swsc (which I'm a mod of) is about to swing into season two, I decided to give Tawny's journal some life.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.
